WHO AM I

Anders Häggström

I am PAIN FREE! I had been in pain for 15 years and I can say there is a way out from the pain and a life to enjoy without it. What someone calls chronic pain is just one way of seeing it. If you limit your way of seeing your life and the world we live in, it’s hard to experience something else than the view you see the world from. To experience a change, you have to challenge your beliefs and what you have picked up on your life so far.

The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.” – Albert Einstein

I’m 37 and grew up in the northern part of Sweden where I still live. As long as I can remember, I have had an interest in science and nature. I’m not sure where this interest came from but I watched  many programs that were on TV when I was growing up. I enjoy trying new things like thai boxing, snowboarding and traveling. I have a bachelor in Energy Engineering and was previously working in the wind farm industry.

Work is something that I believe should be challenging and rewarding, where its a give and take and where you can develop as a person. My current experience hasn’t always met that view.

When I was 20 years old I experienced a car accident and the outcome was that the person in the other car perished. I survived but I struggled to deal with the life that came after the accident. I ended up at the hospital and I complained about back pain. It wasn’t that bad in the beginning but it got worse with time. I didn’t think about it too much at the time. It was something I thought would just pass with time. I was in a way glad that I was alive and still here. That was the start of a struggle with back pain for the next 17 years. I tried a lot of things on my way to heal but through this I struggled to reach out and explain what I was experiencing.

Today I’m so glad that I found a solution that it have brought me here. I want to help others that are struggling with what western medicine call chronic pain. It seems to be a solution out there for most of us that experience pain and it might not be what you thought when you found this page.

That you have found this page says something about you. You are on to something

My Journey

My journey started with a head on car collision when I was 20 and just about to start my working career. After this experience I complained about my back but it wasn’t too bad, in my mind I was still alive and I could walk and move around. The pain in my back wasn’t too bad at this time, honestly my mind was worse and I struggled to talk about it. I guess I didn’t really know who or how to express myself.

My back issues got worse by the years and I went back to school to change career because of this. At the end of University I was in such bad condition that I couldn’t sit and was constantly in pain. I looked everywhere for solutions and even traveled abroad for help. Some things made it better and I made it back to work even though it was a struggle.

Some years later I was assaulted and I also ended up with neck issues as a result of the assault. I couldn’t wear a shirt due to the pressure it caused on my neck. I ended up taking extended sick leave and as a result of this I lost my job as well.

In my search for solutions I found a book “Healing back pain by John E Sarno”. It had been 15 years since the car accident and I started to see why I was still in pain.

The pain that I was in, what we call chronic pain, is now gone. It’s impossible to describe what it’s like to be free of pain, but I know one thing, and that it is possible to be pain free even if you’ve suffered for years!
